I have been DJing for over 25 years, starting out originally on vinyl, as well as now playing out on a DJing controller.
In the last year I have played at local bars and pubs including - Pope Street/Tanyard/Kelsey House, HIT - Hit The Decks, Arcadia/Taprooms -Sidcup and Railway Tavern - Bexley. I also DJ once a month in the main gym at David Lloyd, Sidcup where I play a house set, as well as DJing for their in house events, playing a multi-genre set. Alongside these events I have DJed at numerous parties and weddings, even at the University of Durham and University of Warwickshire.
I ran my own event (Leap Thru the years) which is multi genre night which sold out at Zingara's 2020. Next event is June 2024 in a new venue.
I have been lucky enough to DJ at various clubs such as: Ministry of Sound, Leisure Lounge, Happy Jax.
I have also DJed at some great and interesting events and abroad, predominately playing House music. My favourite alternative event was DJing at the 'Judges corridor' at the Royal Courts of Justice in the main entrance.
I got my first set of decks when I was 17 a pair of soundlab belt driven decks (boy were they hard to mix on!!!), but it taught me a lot and allowed to be able to mix on any decks. Then came the technic1210’s and I never looked back...I got my DJ name of DJ Mad EM from local DJs who drank in the same pub as me, who also gave me opportunities to play out; Windsors (Northcray Road ) @Joy, Dorringtons (Blackwall Tunnel).
Now its all about adding to my skill set, challenging myself and doing new things. New for 2024 is doing music for wedding breakfast mixes. I still love vinyl and prefer the technics but have embraced the world of the pioneer DJ controller and all the new whole opportunities that have opened up.
The question to sync or not to, for me its a NO, but no judgement on anyone else... but for me, I love the challenge
